The listing of David's mother, Dora, looks like they put her surname as Martman, but if it is a person who still had the habit of writing Cyrillic, it looks like Maltman. (The cursive form of l in Cyrillic looks like the English form of r)
ReplyDeletePeter Myers, also a descendant of David and Chaye
If the person who filled out this info was habitually a Russian writer, the script for l would look like the Latin r. Thus, "Martman" would really be "Maltman", her real name.
ReplyDeletePeter Myers, also descendant of David and Chaye
David died in Brownsville, at that time Jewish.
ReplyDeletePeter:
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments. You are correct. There are probably several factual problems with this death certificate, including (likely) the name "Martman." I had not thought about Martman being related to Cyrillic, but that may be true.
I also think David's advanced age is suspect. Unfortunately we do not know which Myers son was the informant for this document. I will do another post on these problems and some similar problems with Ida Myers death certificate.
