For example, once I located Max Liebross' 1912 marriage license record and no similarly indexed certificate, the best I could say is that he and Anna Bernstein married sometime soon after their license was issued. It has been my experience that usually couple married within a week or two of the license application. I have found, however, a few cases where the couple did not marry soon after. In one case, after not following up their license with a marriage (as shown with a certificate), they reapplied for a license several months later and then did follow through and get married.Emily Garberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04728999439188446783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2445639686053980930.post-17104651766513198972017-06-08T13:30:17.140-07:002017-06-08T13:30:17.140-07:00One thing to keep in mind while searching this dat...One thing to keep in mind while searching this database is that, while Ancestry states that records from 1907 to 1951 represent indexes of marriage certificates, they in actuality appear to represent indexes of marriage licenses, rather than indexes of certificates of actual marriages. Thus the dates in these records represent the date of the marriage license, with the marriage occurring sometime later. The marriage location may also differ than the from the location in which the marriage license was issued. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
